Postnatal courses, classes and groups

As an independent local provider our postnatal courses and classes are offered in small, relaxed groups so there is plenty of time for questions and answers to meet the personal needs of each group.

About this course led by Sandra Barrett... As an independent local provider our postnatal course is different from that offered by your health service provider. You will have time to explore what is important to you, and we offer expert information in relaxed, small groups so that you can feel prepared, confident and excited about bringing up your baby. This six week course is suitable for families with children under nine months of age and consists of weekly two hours sessions and gives you an opportunity to:

    • Explore and increase your understanding of developing a responsive relationship with your baby

    • Hear about the latest information about how baby’s brain develops emotionally

    • Explore how you and baby may be feeling and what can be helpful to support you both

    • Think about your developing relationship with your baby now and in the future

    • Increase your understanding of sensitive ways you can respond to your baby eg baby’s crying, developing health sleep patterns and healthy feeding relationship

    • Understand more about your baby’s developmental and play needs

    • Think about experiences of being separate from your baby and how this might feel for both of you

The group is suitable for families with infants from birth and consists of four one hour sessions over 4 consecutive weeks covering many aspects of life with a new baby - explore how you and your baby may be feeling and what can be helpful to support you both - hear the latest information about how your baby's brain develops emotionally - increase your understanding of sensitive ways that you can respond to your baby e.g. soothing a crying baby, developing healthy sleep patterns, feeding your baby.

You will have time to explore what is important to you, and we offer expert information in relaxed, small groups so that you can feel prepared, confident and excited about starting to wean your infant. This two hour workshop is an interactive discussion on all aspects of feeding your infant - exploring what you remember about food as a child - what you know about your baby's feeding pattern and cues - preparing to wean - spoon fed v baby led weaning - drinks - breastfeeding Q&A - keep it clean - looking after your baby's teeth - safety

About this course led by Sandra Barrett...As an independent local provider of infant massage, our courses are designed with both parent and baby in mind. We offer relaxed, small groups to help you to gain confidence with the massage strokes and there is plenty of time for questions and answers to meet the personal needs of each group. Infant massage is suitable from six weeks of age and runs weekly over four consecutive weeks.
Cost: £27 per course

About this course led by Sandra Barrett...As and independent local provider of baby yoga, our courses are designed with both baby and parent in mind.  this course incorporates traditional yoga poses, songs, rhyme and sensory fun for an engaging esperience.  Baby yoga is suitable from six weeks of age and runs weekly over four consecutive weeks.

The PANDAS organisation is a national support network with online support and peer support groups throughout the country.

The North Tyneside PANDAS Support Group is a peer led group for women and their families in North Tyneside, and it’s surrounding area, who are experiencing primary mental health issues in the antenatal and postnatal period of their life.
